Course on substances and methods of use
It is essential that care providers in the social services and addiction treatment fields have close knowledge of specific substances, methods of use and the related health risks. Through this knowledge the professional remains alert to signalling problems, and it gives insight in the health risks of drug use. The care provider can also use their knowledge to offer substance users safer methods to use drugs.
Target group
All professionals that are in direct contact with substance users, such as care providers working in the field of social services, addiction treatment and mental healthcare.
Contents
An introduction to the different substances that are available, subsequent effects and methods of administering drugs. Providing techniques to help make issues such as ‘awareness’ and ‘behavioural changes’ discussable among users. The course focuses specifically on the use and effects of crack cocaine.
