Russian Roulette

For the Dutch awareness campaign on hepatitis C, Mainline developed a game called ‘Russian Roulette.’ A good tool for starting up conversations in different settings and fields of work. By making up their own questions, social workers can bring up sensitive issues in a light-hearted setting. The board game can be ordered via this website, starting September 20 2010.

Research

Mainline and the Schorer Foundation conducted research into MSM (Men who have Sex with Men), substance use and high-risk behaviour. Some of the research questions were: which drugs does this group use and how does their use affect the susceptibility to infectious diseases?

Gespreksgroepen

A lot of substance users regularly find temporary accommodation in shelter centres: hostels, social pensions and other types of shelters. Mainline’s discussion group offers these users the opportunity to discuss their substance use and health.

Goal

The discussion group is aimed at reflecting on how to deal with drug use. The group offers room to exchange experiences and to ask questions. Mainline facilitates the group process and, if the need arises, also offers information and new insights.

Themes

The discussions are based on input and questions from participants whereby Mainline plays a facilitating role.
Possible themes:

  • the working of drugs
  • risks and safe use
  • users’ health
  • self-control
  • behavioural change
  • general outlook on life
