Russian Roulette

For the Dutch awareness campaign on hepatitis C, Mainline developed a game called ‘Russian Roulette.’ A good tool for starting up conversations in different settings and fields of work. By making up their own questions, social workers can bring up sensitive issues in a light-hearted setting. The board game can be ordered via this website, starting September 20 2010.

Research

Mainline and the Schorer Foundation conducted research into MSM (Men who have Sex with Men), substance use and high-risk behaviour. Some of the research questions were: which drugs does this group use and how does their use affect the susceptibility to infectious diseases?

Training

Since 1990 Mainline’s outreach workers have been in direct contact with substance users on the street and in prison. These highly trained and skilled outreach workers have extensive knowledge of the problems facing substance users, developments in the use of substances and health risks involved. This knowledge and experience has been compiled and converted into a training programme. By offering this training, Mainline wants to contribute to professional development among professionals, policymakers and substance users.

On February 1st, 2010, Mainline received accreditation for training and continuing education for nurses and caretakers by the Dutch Kwaliteitsregister Verpleegkundigen en Verzorgenden (accrediting organisation for nurses and caretakers).

Mainline offers a practice-related course programme.

The training is aimed at:

  • Increasing your knowledge of the world of drugs
  • Acquiring the skills to deal with everyday (health) issues facing substance users
  • Maintaining contact with users

Mainline offers regular training courses. For more information please contact Jeannot Schmidt or Hilde Roberts
