MSM, substance use and high-risk sexual behaviour
Research by Mainline and Schorer
Mainline and the Schorer foundation are conducting research into MSM (Men who have Sex with Men), substance use and high-risk behaviour. What is the relation between high-risk (sexual) behaviour and substance use among MSM? The research focuses on MSM, substance use and high-risk behaviour, on what MSM actually do and what they observe among their peers. The research gives Mainline and Schorer insight in substance use and high-risk sexual behaviour of MSM, and also helps to explain why this group of men take risks, in spite of the fact that they are usually aware of the risks of dangerous sexual behaviour.
Key question
What is the relation between high-risk (sexual) behaviour and substance use among MSM (men who have sex with men)?
Additional questions
- What substances does this group use?
- How does substance affect the susceptibility to infectious diseases?
- What is the function of the substance use?
- What are this group’s views towards attitude or behavioural changes?
