Mission

A drug-free world is a utopia and substance use a social phenomenon. These are a few points of departure for Mainline.

Russian Roulette

For the Dutch awareness campaign on hepatitis C, Mainline developed a game called ‘Russian Roulette.’ A good tool for starting up conversations in different settings and fields of work. By making up their own questions, social workers can bring up sensitive issues in a light-hearted setting. The board game can be ordered via this website, starting September 20 2010.

  • Substance use is the personal choice or actual condition of the individual concerned.
  • Mainline does not distinguish on the grounds of gender, belief, race, sexual orientation or attitude to life.
  • Every individual user has the right to receive support to help prevent the harmful consequences of substance use as much as possible.


Goals

  • Provide information
  • Provide clear information to substance users to enable them, irrespective of their own choices and abilities, to lead the healthiest possible lives.
  • Expand the effective methods of providing information.
  • Help care providers and policymakers increase their knowledge on substance use.


Providing support

  • Guarding the preconditions for harm reduction, with special attention to poverty reduction.
  • Reducing infectious diseases among substance users.
  • Improving the general living conditions of users with infectious diseases.

 

Promotion

  • Supporting organisations that want to develop, execute or expand the harm reduction approach to substance use.

  • Gaining political support for harm reduction, both nationally and internationally.

  • Gaining political support to ensure that substance users world-wide continue to receive the necessary care.

  • Creating support for harm reduction in society.
